“Wow! This book is a winner! Corrie Lynne Player has probably written the best book on teenagers I’ve ever read! Being a parent as well as a practicing pediatrician, I would strongly recommend this book to anyone with teens. The reference book for your library! Foreword Magazine Adolescence may be easier for parents if they follow the advice of Corrie Lynne Player, who has a Master's in education from Stanford and has raised nine children of her own and more than forty troubled foster children. She has written a parent's guide to raising teens called Loving Firmness: Successfully Raising Teenagers Without Losing Your Mind (Mapletree Publishing, 0-9728071-6-0). .... She uses experiences with her own children and acknowledges that there are no perfect answers, although following parameters (no matter how difficult) will ultimately help reduce strife. |

As life expectancy in American society increases, more and more people will find themselves sandwiched between meeting the necessities of aging parents and dealing with spouses, children and/or grandchildren. Human beings enter this life needing to be fed, diapered, and protected and they leave it the same way! Watching the aging of people you’ve always counted on is a heart wrenching experience. But it’s one each of us must face; we can’t just hope things will get better–time doesn’t stop for anyone or anything.

I want the book to provide insight, support, and inspiration for those tens of millions of people whose loved ones are losing their ability to cope with life on their own. I need hints about gauging the necessity for intervention, strengthening family bonds and securing cooperation, selecting appropriate living situations for each of the last stages of life, and, throughout it all, maintaining the dignity every person deserves.
